Fred is an avid theatre goer and loves working live on stage. His sketch show, Fred Willard : Alone At Last! (with a cast of 10) has been critically acclaimed and won two Artistic Director Awards for Best Comedy and Best Production. He has appeared Off-Broadway in the hit plays Little Murders and Arf! and The Great Airplane Snatch.
Here in Los Angeles he starred in the hit plays, Elvis and Juliet (a comedy written by his wife, Mary), Isnt It Romantic, Promises Promises and Anything Goes.

Fred appeared at the Abingdon Theatre in New York on 36th Street, doing a reading of Elvis and Juliet, along with Joe Piscopo (Joey Lesley), Joey Piscopo, Joes son (Elvis Lesley), and Rachel Dratch (Lisa Marie Lesley) Fred plays Art Lesley, King of the Elvis impersonators.
Busy doing theatre in 2004, he starred in both Elvis and Juliet and Moon Shine!, a new musical comedy written by his wife, Mary Willard, with music by Marty Stuart.

Fred appeared at the 2005 Aspen Comedy Festival with the rest of the funny cast of Waiting for Guffman. He also starred in Mame at the newly remodeled Hollwyood Bowl. Summer of 2005 found Fred performing in No, No Nanette in Cape Cod.
